Isaiah 55:1 says, “Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.” Here is one of the greatest invitations ever given. It is an invitation given by God to receive that which can satisfy you, but not pay anything for it. That’s just the way that salvation is. It is a free gift of God, offered unto us by His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. There is nothing that we can pay for the forgiveness of sins. When Jesus died on the cross for sinners He said, “It is finished.” Man wants to think that there is something that he can do or pay in order to receive eternal life. The religious man wants to think that he has something to offer God so that God will let him into heaven. Man wants to think that somehow he must pay something in order for Him to be saved. God tells us to come unto Him without money and without price. My friend, there is nothing you can do to save yourself. There is nothing that you can pay that can be worth the cleansing of the blood of the Son of God. You can never work hard enough or give God enough that would earn or pay your way. Salvation is a gift, believe upon Christ and receive it. “For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Eph.2:8-9). “But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name”(John 1:12).
