Worry will zap our joy ever so quickly. So long as we worry we will not experience joy or peace. Philippians 4:6 reads: “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” That word for careful means to be anxious or worrisome. So many of the things we worry about never even come to pass. We begin to imagine all the terrible things that could happen if this or that happens and our mind is overloaded with worry, doubt and fear. This is not how the Lord would have us to live. Just a couple of verses before the one I just mentioned we are told to “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, rejoice” (Phil. 4:6). We need to get our eyes off of the winds of circumstance and get our eyes on the Master of the wind. We are told in verse 6 that we are not to worry but we are to be in prayer and be thankful. We need to focus on rejoicing in the Lord and going to Him with our requests and being thankful for what He has already done in our life. If we would take a few moments to be thankful for what the Lord has already done in our life then we will be reminded that He will surely be with us in the future. We get so worried over what may happen that we fail to be happy for what the Lord has done already for us. If we rejoice in the Lord and we go to Him for everything in prayer and give Him all our burdens and remember to be thankful then we will find the next verse to be fulfilled: “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:7). Be at peace dear child of God and rejoice in your great God! Pray to Him about everything and carry no burdens of your own. Remember, to be thankful. Do this and you won’t worry…but, you will be happy. So either you can worry about things that you cannot control or give them to the one Who is already in control.
