Hidden Treasures

4-2-13

Over the years there have been many stories written about people looking for some sort of hidden treasure. These stories take us on a journey that usually involves them facing many troubled waters in order to obtain or find this treasure. We may even imagine what it would be like to discover those treasures with them. I wonder at what length we would go to in order to obtain a hidden treasure if we knew for sure that it was out there. If we knew that we had a hidden treasure in our own home that was worth more than we could ever imagine what would we do? Well, most of us have that great treasure in our own homes. God’s Word is more valuable than all the silver and gold this world has to offer. We should therefore seek it with all our hearts. Many people today are laboring and working hard at seeking the treasures of this life. We should seek with even a greater determination the knowledge of God’s Word. Proverbs 2:3-4 teaches us that we should seek after God’s Word as one would seek after hid treasures. If we knew a treasure was beneath our feet then how deep would we dig? Would we just remove the sod? Of course not. We need to be willing to go deep into the Word of God. We do not need to be shallow Christians. We need to be Christians who understand the value of God’s Word and are willing to dig deep into it until we find the great treasures that are buried in its pages. Jesus tells us in His Word that he gives us the words of eternal life. All the money in the world can’t give you that! Are you opening up the Book to find those treasures?
