Little Faith – Part IV

5-11-12

The fourth time Jesus rebukes for “little faith” is found in Matthew 16:7-10 where it reads: “And they reasoned among themselves saying, It is because we have taken no bread. Which when Jesus perceived, He said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread? Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?” The lack of faith in this case seems to stem from the fact that they had quickly forgotten the miracle that Jesus had recently done and had not allowed that to increase their faith. If our faith would only grow a little every time we seen God do something in our life then truly our faith would be “great faith” in a very short time. Our problem though is much like the disciples that were rebuked. We forget! How quickly we let our mind let go of the times that God showed up and worked on our behalf and helped us. Maybe today you will be faced with a difficulty and wonder how is the Lord going to provide. May you remember what He has done for you in the past and have faith that He can do the same again. To help increase your faith today, take time to remember and meditate on what God has done for you in the past. Take time to be still and know that He is God. What can you remember today that can help increase your faith?
