Satan, The Serpent

The Word of God teaches us that Satan came to Eve in the garden of Eden in the form of a serpent. As I thought about this I began to consider the similiarities between snakes and Satan. Let me make something very clear…I  HATE SNAKES! One of the reasons I dislike them soooo much is because they are so sneaky. They can be so close to you before you ever realize it because they are quiet and seem to blend so well with their environment. Jesus talks about false prophets that clothe themselves with sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravening wolves (Matt. 7:15). People think that they will be able to see the Devil coming because they think of Him as having big horns and a pitch fork. The fact of the matter is..Satan is a snake! He slips upon you before you know it. Paul taught us that Satan transforms himself into an angel of light (II Cor. 11:13). Everything that has Christian on it is not of God. Satan loves to work under the cloak of Christianity to accomplish his evil purposes. He loves to put tares among wheat and confuse the world about what is real Christianity. I’m thankful though that Jesus at the cross of Calvary crushed the Devil’s head (that’s the best way to kill a snake) and that through Christ we can have victory!
